The New Orleans Saints might be without their two top backs for the Week 16 game against the New York Jets. The Saints announced on Thursday that they have placed running back Devin Neal on injured reserve,

Had Smyth not been successful during that three game stretch, the Saints could have easily saved the active roster spot by choosing to elevate fellow practice squad kicker Cade York for the final three games instead. But Smyth made that option a non-starter with his play, and the Saints released York from the practice squad Thursday.

It isn't just Nyheim Hines joining the Saints practice squad before this Jets game. The Saints also added former Jaguars and Eagles WR Elijah Cooks.

Carolina's young quarterback did his part, but his traditional passing stats were underwhelming for the 10th time this season.
