According to a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Texans have added former Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Kaevon Merriweather to their practice squad. Merriweather was just released from the Buccaneers following the events of Week 15, leading to him going unclaimed and clearing waivers, to now joining aboard the Texans.

A former standout for Iowa, Houston will be Merriweather's second stop in the NFL after initially starting with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2023. Since the start of his NFL career, the third-year defensive back played in 42 career games, totaling 46 tackles and a pass breakup.
