Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman announced the state has become the first in the nation to file a lawsuit against Character Technologies and its Character.AI platform.

It comes after regulator Ofcom said it contacted X after reports that users have prompted the tool to generate sexualised images of people.

Coleman's complaint alleges Character Technologies, its owners and Character.AI profited off child endangerment.

Grok, the chatbot developed by Elon Musk's company xAI, said it is fixing "lapses in safeguards" after social media users said it was generating sexualized photos of minors.
