South Bay Lakers recap: G League Lakers fall short to Rip City
At the UCLA Health Training Center, the Lakers were red-hot offensively early. They scored 41 points in the first quarter and held the lead for most of the first half en route to a 76-68 halftime lead. But afterward, South Bay went into a drought and got caught up in a dogfight.
LeBron James kicked off the scoring and then found Deandre Ayton for a midrange shot to take an early lead. De’Aaron Fox responded with five straight points for the Spurs, although Luka Doncic then matched him with a layup and three-point play.
Although Jalen Suggs scored 26 points, the Magic fell to the Knicks in Las Vegas on Saturday night to end their NBA Cup run.
