Climatologically, it is not supposed to snow in South Florida. The laid-back tropics are a region constantly gaining energy from the sun, and with Florida's temperatures moderated by warm water on three sides, snow is unusual even in the northern reaches of the state.
A dash of wintry weather is expected this weekend in portions of the Deep South and Southeast. Flurries are possible as far south as the Florida Panhandle, and there could be some legitimate accumulations of snow in the coastal Carolinas.

Looks like snow is back on the menu. NWS Mobile says there's a slight chance of light snow/snow flurries on Saturday night.
Much of Florida is under a warning or advisory as the coldest weather of the season is expected to arrive Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Tampa Bay residents are likely to wake up to freezing or near freezing temperatures Friday morning.
