After Watching Avatar: Fire And Ash, There's One Jake-Related Detail I Wish Would've Been Explored
Light spoilers for Avatar: Fire and Ash lie ahead.
Director James Cameron is back with biggest and longest “Avatar” movie yet, “Fire and Ash.” Taking place shortly after the events of 2022’s “The Way of Water,” “Fire and Ash” ups the stakes even further, bring massive battles between the Na’vi and humans, and introduces the series’ scariest villain yet.
James Cameron's return to Pandora brings us on an even more expansive exploration of the alien planet and the Na'vi people.
But behind the scenes, the moment was shot between actors Sigourney Weaver (who is now 76) and a then-underage Jack Champion (now 21). Given that portions of Fire and Ash were filmed as much as eight years ago, director James Cameron says Champion was only 15 at the time of shooting.
"I feel like embracing, for my live action portion, embracing the fact that this guy's mobile," Champion tells PEOPLE of the role at the movies' Dec. 1 premiere in Los Angeles. "He rolls around in the mud. He goes and brushes against the leaves. That was just that. If I embrace it, then it's not uncomfortable. I just got to go 110%."
The third “Avatar” movie has also grossed over $257 million in international markets, for a combined total of $345 million.
“Avatar: Fire and Ash” opened with $345 million in worldwide sales, according to studio estimates Sunday, notching the second-best global debut of the year and potentially putting James Cameron on course to set yet more blockbuster records.
Avatar: Fire and Ash includes a crisis lifeline in the end credits for a good reason. The third Avatar film is a fine spectacle, but it doesn't add much to the franchise. Social media loves this impossibly soft throw — snag it in one of 8 colors.
