According to ESPN's Benjamin Solak, no player before Jalen Hurts tonight committed two turnovers on one play going back as far as 1978
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have waived 41-year-old Marcedes Lewis, the oldest tight end to play in an NFL game. Lewis appeared in four games for the Broncos as a point-of-attack blocker. He didn't catch any passes or post any statistics but he did tally 66 snaps. He made one start, on Nov. 6 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
In football terms, an Octopus refers to when a player scores a touchdown, then follows it up by scoring a two-point conversion. There are stipulations to the label, an Octopus is only valid if the same player carries the ball into the end zone on both the touchdown and the two-point conversion.
Hurts is apparently the first player in NFL history (or at least since 1978) to commit two turnovers on one play:
