Soumith Chintala, co-creator of PyTorch, has been named the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Mira Murati's AI company, Thinking Machines Lab.

Hyderabad-born Chintala, who joined Thinking Machines Lab in November 2025, will replace Barret Zoph who stepped down as CTO.
